I accidentally deleted the LPT1 “local port” registry line under the following line:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors
I need to add the “local port” back into the registry. How do I do this?I tried to “repair” W2K operating system, but that didn’t do it. How do I replace the “local port” back into this part of the registry along with it’s driver? I had deleted it before I realized what I had deleted. (STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!) Of course, I didn’t back up the registry first either (more STUPID, STUPID, STUPID). I was in a hurry, or so I thought.

Thanks!

Jim

Jrichar9,

Not sure how to directly edit the registry on this one. but you can try adding the port back via the Printers folder.

Accidentially deleted parallel ports can be replaced by...
Start|Settings|Printers, File|Server Properties, Ports tab...Click Add Port and highlight Local Port. Click New Port and type the name of the port as LPT1. Click Ok.

Just a thought,
