How can I drop tablespace on Oracle if the databafile has been deleted?

Thanks!

J,

I don't have a throw-away database to confirm my memory of the method, but as I recall (under your circumstances), you do the following:

1) shutdown abort
2) startup mount
3) alter database datafile '<datafile name>' offline drop;
4) drop tablespace <tablespace name>;
5) alter database open;

...or something like that. (I'm on vacation and don't have my manuals handy.) Try that and post the results. We can offer other suggestions once you try this.
