I am trying to delete a user account in XP but when I get to the last step of deleting the computer freezes and won't let me delete. I am logged in as Admin while working.

Any ideas folks???

Run virus/spyware scans. Also run a scan from the link below.

Also whens the last time you ran system file checker? Go to command prompt and run it as well. To do so if you dont know how , type sfc/scannow and put your system disc in. If your using sp2 and your disc is not follow the link below to make one.

Also if none of the above help like virus/spyware scans and sfc then download hijackthis from the link below. Extract it to desktop or prefered folder. Open the program choose do a system scan and save a logfile and post the logfile results on here. Hopefully some of this helps.

This is a Windows 2000 Forum

The information should be almost the same for XP

You must be a Administrator, then goto Start, Settings, Control Panel, Adminstrative Tools, Computer Management, Local User & Groups, select Users, then click on the user name that you want then right click and select delete

You could try to delete user from command prompt:-

net user username /delete
