One of our users is not recieveing emails as soon as they are being sent, for example if someone (internally) sends me an email I receive it almost straight away, however this user will not, only when she opens an old email does the email appear - there can be up to 6 emails stored up that only appear when she opens an old email.

Hope this makes sense.

if you open her mail on another machine, does the same thing happen? if not, recreate the profile.

It is only happening when she is logged onto that particular computer - however I have re-created her profile and this has had no effect. Thanks

Even when you hit the send and recieve button in outlook does it still take you having to open up an old mail before she gets the new mail?
Perhaps the setting in outlook is set to check for new messages every so often (which i think by default it could be 10 min)

Hitting the send and receive button does not make any difference, they mail still does not come through.
However if I hit the received coloum tab it brings the new mail in.
I have reinstalled Outlook 98 and this had no effect, I have installed Outlook 2000 and got the same problem - this might be an XP problem.

This really sounds like an issue with new mail notifications. There are many reasons this can happen. The most common is a firewall or router that is blocking the UDP notifications:

If it's not possible to correct the issues in the environment, you could always set up polling:

Hi John
Thanks for that but non of you ideas apply really, the user is running Outlook 98, and she is the only user having this problem - the Exchange server is not behind a firewall either.
