I have a user on my Exchange 2000 network that has a major delay when open mail in the inbox. No other user has this issue. The system is a 1.8Ghz processor with 512MB RAM. Plenty of horsepower. There is not an antivirus SW that is scanning the mail, so I don't know what would cause this to just start happening. User has all the latest MS Windows and MS Office

What size is the user's PST folder?

The Exchange folder is only about 11MB. There is an attached PST that is 1.5GB but that is not the only folder that is slow when opening a mail. The delay happens when opening a mail from the Exchange mailbox, not just the PST.

A PST file of 1.5GB could be causing the problem. Theoretically, a PST should be OK up to 1.85GB, but I have heard of smaller PSTs causing Exchange problems.

Try reducing the PST and see if that resolves the user's problem.
