Definity switch question on analog port

I have a customer with a Definity switch with analog ports being used with DID's for a long term care facility.
The residents phone (analog) is connected to a Tunstall nursing unit which is supposed to call a nurse internally (system digital extension)for emergency's.
The way it is hooked up is, the Tunstall is plugged into the wall jack and the resident phone is plugged into the tunstall, so that the tunstall takes priority.
My problem is that the analog port connects directly to the CO so the resident simply dials the desired telephone number.
Sorry for the rambling on here.....what I need the tunstall unit to do is dial an internal system number. But if the port is designed to pickupup an outside line automatically, how can I get the tunstall to dial internally?

thanks!

Do you just want the analog station to go off hook and dial an internal station number??

No because this is a retirement home and each resident has there own phone setup so that when they pickup the handset they get directly onto the CO.No 9 or any other digit to dial.
So what I need the analog to be able to do is maybe have a special code setup, like dial 8 and now I can dial an internal extension, is that possible?

thanks

tjcom,

i think you may try this setup: assign this extension a hotline destination of 9 (using abbr dial list), add a string to the ars digit conversion table that looks like
[tt]
Matching Pattern Min Max Del Replacement String Net Conv ANI Req

*123 4 4 4 1234 ext n n
[/tt]
then program your tunstall unit to call 9*123. it will automatically route this call to extension 1234, but the patient wouldn't know any of this.

Exactly as Dwalin said, create a entry for ars digit conversion as below:-

Matching Min Max Del Replacement String Net

xxxx 4 4 0 ext

If the extensions are 4 digits use matching as xxxx & if extensions are 5 digit use xxxxx. This would ensure that if an internal number is dialed after the ars code (9), the call is placed internally on the extension directly.

Thanks,
I knew there was a way but just had a brain fart!

thanks everyone!

so let me get this straight...sorry
my setup
in a abbr dial list I have a 9 already there, it's not a personal list it's in a abbr group, is that ok?
in the ars digit conversion table should my setup look like this......(this is the ext I have to enter)

Matching Min Max Del replacement string net

*241 3 3 0 ext

thanks once again

tjcom,

min/max/del fields are incorrect. i guess you need to call extension "241", not "*24". so you should set min/max/del to 4/4/1, because star sign counts as a digit and you need to delete one digit (*) in front of the number dialed.

thanks everyone I got it working!
