Hi Guys,

I had a potential customer just call me, with the following problem. I'm not a phone guy, but a network guy. I just wanted to see your guys thoughts before I attempt to tackle this.
Here is his description of the problem.
Avaya Definity G3 with Audix Voicemail. We are networked with 3 other sites in north America. Our CMS is in Wisconsin connected by a private network. All has been fine for over 1 year. On Saturday Avaya support got an alarm that the PBX stopped talking to the Audix. After 2 days with Avaya our main processor boards were replaced and the the problem went away. For about 12 hours. If I tie the PBX directly to the voicemail system all is good with the communication. If I then plug the boxes into our newtork (Cisco 4006 core) the boxes stop talking to each other. I can ping each device and remotly manage them through the network. Avaya level 3 tech support say's it can be nothing but the network. I have no issues with any other devices on the network. Our core network devicesand phone system on on thier own vlan. I do see more multicast traffic then I would like. The network guy is real green and says that it can't be the network.

Thanks....

Are they close enough to eachother that you can hook them up to a small Linksys/D-link switch? As long as they have static IP's you can get a 4 or 8 port switch at Best Buy. That way even if the network goes down, users can still access voicemail because of the little switch that could...maybe I am missing the point.
