The LCD display on my laptop seems to be defective somehow. From the moment it boots up, all it displays is a washed out image, (no legible display) with a horizontal white line going through the picture. There are some blocks of colour, but nothing that resembles a normal display.

The display resolution is set correctly. The monitor does this from bootup until Windows XP loads.

If I connect an external monitor, it works fine, so I'm guessing it's not the display card.

Inspect the pins on the video ribbon cable for any loose, bent, or broken ones.
If they're ok, then there is the LCD screen is probably toast.

what system is this? if you can tell me i may be able to help you further troubleshot this
