We setup our exch. 2k server about 3 months ago, and now have folks trying to send out email over 2mb about 3mb
to be exact,

is there a "default" message limit exchange set's up
automatically ?? We checked the system manager
and mailbox Store and no limits are checked off.

Thanks for any insite

As far as I'm aware there is not...

The two limits you can setup are internal and internet bound (external mail). I would advise setting up a limit of approximately 5-10 MB internally and something around the 3-5 MB for external mail.

One thing you have to be cautious of is limiting incoming external mail, your system could be severely impacted if someone spammed you with multiple 50 MB messages :-(

One thing many people are not familar with is the JET version store, this is a temporary area in memory where transactions sre stored before they are written to the transaction log. This has finite size and if the box receives a lot of large messages it will run out and the server will hit problems!

markse,

where is this "JET version store" and is it possible to see ??

I still have folks getting errors sending email, stating this:

.net 007: This e-mail message was undeliverable due to the following reason:

.net 017: Your e-mail message is larger than the destination mail system is able to accept.

Note: This error message indicates the size of your e-mail message is too large to be received by the destination mail system.

Solution 1:
If you can make your e-mail message smaller, you should perform the following: 1. Split the e-mail message into several smaller e-mail messages and deliver them separately. 2. Send fewer or compressed attachments.

Solution 2:
If you can not make your e-mail message smaller, then determine another way to transfer.

Size of this message: 2846084 bytes
Server maximum size: 2097152 bytes

Just answere this in the other post. BTW- you will aos get a similar message if there are mailbox size limits, and the users is reaching the limit.

georgesz,

we didnt set any user mailbox limits either ????

enabkle message tracking and track one of these messages. It will give you a more specific idea where it's failing.

sorry, to ask,

where is message enabling set and which file do you check for this ??

thanks

Each of your connectors can also have limits set, can they not? Check you SMTP connector settings. The email excerpt above is what someone external to your organization is getting when sending to your organization, correct?
