I have 2 network connections. Both can reach internet. One is direct connected and one is connected to an internal network via a router.

My problem is that, for instance, MSN is trying to connect through the router. This is fine for just chatten but when using more complicated protocols like voicechat you can't make a connection because of the rules in the router firewall.

I would like that all applications used the external nic/connection as default. How can I accomplish that?

thanks / Henrik

well the only thing that comes to mind at the moment would be to either disconnect the connection that goes to the router or disable it through the network places properties. Althought having a connection to a direct internet source (providing that its a cable line that is always connected) defeats the purpose of having a router with a firewall all together. That open connection leaves your computer and your network open to any type of spyware, adware, hacker, ext. because it completly bypasses the firewall. If anything I would recomend that you disable the direct connection, go through the router and try to configure the firewall to let the programs get through. It may be a little more time consuming and take a bit more effort, but I think that you would be better off in the end.
