Is there a way to change the default header/footer settings in Excel?
I would particularly like the footer to be #8 font size...it always comes up as 10 and I always have to change it.

Headers and footers default to the same text font and size as all other text in Excel. To change the default text size, go to Tools>Options, then on the General tab change the size and/or font.

You will have to restart Excel before changes take effect.

Sheet.xlt and Book.xlt are the templates used to create new worksheets and workbooks. You can set up your headers and footers as you like in these template files, and then you can have 8 points in headers and footers and 10point in the cells.

The Sheet.xlt file should have a single worksheet. The Book.xlt file should have as many worksheets as you like to have in a new workbook. You'll have to format each of them the way you like. These files are stored (I believe) in your C:\Documents and Settings\your name\Application data\Microsoft\Templates folder. Note that these files don't normally exist--but Excel will use them if you create them.
