Open your normal.dot template and customize the bullets in this document. Save the changes (be sure it's still a blank page) and close it. When you create a new file it is automatically based on this "normal" template and your new bullet styles should still be there.
Thanks for your reply but I must be missing something here. I open normal.dot and set the indentation at .5 for the first bullet position and 1.2 for the text. I then set the second bullet at 1.2 and the text at 1.9, the third bullet at 1.9 and the text at 2.6, etc. I do this by setting 7 bullets (one for each bullet in the bullets & numbering window for example) and formatting the indent and text positions for each bullet. I save the blank template and open a new doc, enter text on line one and format it as the first bullet position. That's fine as it is set at .5 and 1.2. I hit enter and create a 2nd line of text and click on bullets to format that line at the second bullet level but I get a different indent setting than that which was saved in normal. The third, forth, fifth, etc. lines are not the correct indent setting either. I return to normal and check the indent settings for all of the bullets I formatted and they are as I set them.
What am I missing?
Thanks, as always.
