Dealing with Junk Faxes

Hi everyone,

Not sure where to post this question, but since I am running on IP Office, I'd try here.

We have a couple of fax machines running from the POTS lines that have been receiving an annoying amount of junk faxes. I was wondering if anyone has had any success in reducing the number of faxes in, whether by software or through an in-line device.

if you have the numbers of the sending companys then you can route those numbers
for every number you make an incoming call route and virtual user and set that user to do not disturb
turn voicemail of for that user
it should disconnect the call
with voicemail pro you can even do more with it

Paul if you are based in the UK you can register your fax numbers with an agency that 'cold faxers' (so to say) have to check against before being able to send faxes to you. I have done this on 5 fax machines we have in our offices and seems to have solved the problem. The url is

Better yet is to track the incoming ID and create routes with destination of an extension that doesn't exist or a short code that uses feature busy. My favorite is to route the call back to the sender but that does take an extra trunk but has a dramatic effect on the senders psyche. Imagine sending an unwanted call center call back to the originator!
