Recieved a dead Compaq with a MS-6577 MOBO.(They bought it 2 months ago from Office Depot, first mistake)

No POST
No BOOT
No VID
Re-boots itself

I cant get it to POST on a strip-down either, however when I pull the memory I get beep codes. I reseated everything, and reset the CMOS.Tested the Pwr supply.I threw in a crappy video card to get display, and was able to get into CMOS.I also got a faint WinXP splash, nothing more, then it went away.Cant access any boot options.First thought was they torqued on the integrated VGA port and ruined the board, because I cant access the HD or get a POST.The board appears OK visually. Also pondered on the idea of a burn-in failure too.

Any known issues on this board or system respectively?

Thanks ahead for suggestions, This one has me stumped.

how old is this motherboard? I mean is it really worth it and if it is, is the machine under warranty? That does sound weird....and the integrated video isnt working either... that has me stumped too. I wish you luck!

Well, as I stated the system is 2 months old. They are checking on the warranty now. They had opened the machine when this happened to "Look Inside" for what it was worth.Hopefully that didnt void the warranty, not sure if it was sealed.

With on-board video, RAM usually has to be in the first slot - slot 0.

Andy.

Yeah everything like that checks out fine.
