I have been told that Avaya need to dial in on some of our
systems to enable DCS. Can anyone provide info about what DCS is and the benefits / Features / risks this involves.

Is it as simple a changing a setting from yes to no

Thanks

DCS is Avaya's proprietary Switch Networking Protocol. It allows all sorts of snazy features to make multiple systems look like 1 big switch to the end user.

Its a cost option. They just came to you saying this, or did you ask for something, and they're saying its a requirement to make it happen.

Maybe not one big switch but it does allow transparency between Definity Systems. DCS (Distributed Communication System) allows you to have a centralized Voice Mail system. You can have (depending on the release of your Definity's) 4 or 5 digit dialing between sites. It can help with call center.
