I wonder if someone could give me an "plain english" version of what DCOM is/does? Secondly, I have the error
DCOM got error class not registered on server xxx when attemping to activate server... doesn't seem to cause any harm but then I don't know what dcom does to know for sure if it is/isn't causing harm...any ideas? Thanks very much!
I should mention it is a w2k server sp1...

DCOM is the distributed version of COM. On itself it's only a model used in (distributed) application design, it allows for multiple languages components either on a client machine or distributed over a network to cooperate.

The error your describing can likely be solved by typing in your run command "Regsvr32.exe completepathtocomponent"
Where completepathtocomponent is obviously the path the component (.exe, .ocx, .dll) that you wish to register.
