Hi guys,

I'm trying to add a new DC to my domain. I've got one existing DC called mail.corp.imnonline.net

The new server is to be file.corp.imnonline.net

On file I can ping both mail and corp.imnonline.net. And mail is file's DNS server. On mail I can ping file and corp.imnonline.net.

I do not have corp.imnonline.net listed on my ISP's DNS server just imnonline.net

I have taken file out of the domain and it now sit's in a workgroup.

When I fire up dcpromo and go to the second screen I put in corp.imnonline.net as the domain name but it says that's not an AD domain or the server can't be found. If I type in CORP it continues on.

Then on the next screen where it asks for the FQDN I put in corp.imnonline.net and it says it's not a valid domain. IF I click browse corp.imnonline.net shows up, if I select it it doesn't work. If I type in CORP it asks if I meant corp.imnonline.net. I click yes and it continues.

I go throught the directory placement stuff and get to the last screen. When I get there is says the domain does not exist or cannot be contacted.

Any thoughts guys? I've read bunch of messages on this form and tried all the suggestion but nothing seems to work.

Thanks.
