I have a DC for my domain and over the weekend it "lost" it's domain. I had a user call me saying they couldn't log on to a workstation, and that the password wasn't working. I figure no prob, the account just got locked out. I get on the the DC and go to Active Directory Users and Computers, and there's a big red X were the domain ususally is. I check another DC and it's fine. So I restart the lost DC and after 10 min it comes back online (I was in remotely). I check Users and Computers again and everything is back to normal. Check the event viewer and at first it showed entries, but after clicking on security, system, dns, application, etc.. all the entries disappear and says 0 events. I reopen Event Viewer and it says there are 2100 events for Application, but they are all blank, there's nothing there. What's going on? Anyone see this before?

Is it possible the domains couldn't sync, so the bad dc lost it? Once you re-booted everything synced fine.
