dbaxchg2 corrupt registry key

Multiple ARCserve2000 SP4 + hotfixes
Reinitialise database every 10 days or so due to corruption.
Many brick backups fail with RPC failure - RPC restart cures.

However, I have noticed the following~:

HKLM\Software\ComputerAssociates\ARCserveIT\DSAgent\CurrentVersion\agent\dbaxchg2\Es

Type=REG_SZ
Data=ªÉÄËÙÍžƒÜØݪÏÏÂÁÙÕÚÈؾ۾ÜÕÚÈØ?’ÍÍÜ«ª

Shurly there's shum mishtake?
Any input greatfully received.

I believe that the key is encrypted, not corrupt. I have seen a large # of exchange agent installs and the value for Es never displays anything readable (in english that is).
