Make sure you have rights to the file location.
Make sure the programs do not try to write to the root drive (such as C:\) if you do not have administrator rights.
Make sure that if you copied them to a CD in order to transfer them to your new computer, then you should open a command prompt or DOS window and run ATTRIB -R *.* on that directory in order to remove the read-only flags that files written to CDs will have.
