Hello All,

I am testing a newly developed database which was to be in full use today, but it is obviously behind.

There are functions which work on my machine and another machine in the office, but not on a third machine. No error messages have been popping up. The database was developed from scratch in Access 2002 as an Access 2002 db.

We are all running Access 2002, all are up to date with Office and Windows updates, etc. I have gone into the Access > Help > About > System Info > Office 10 Apps > Access 2002 on all three machines and have noticed some differences in the items listed and versions of the ones that are common. There are two other machines I need to try the db on, but have been unable to get access to them (month end as well as year end/annual meeting stuff, etc.).

Part of the problem is that I am not totally sure what I should be looking for. I suspect different versions of a DLL or something else, but this is a really new area for me. Can someone give me some guidence about what to look for, where, and how to correct things? I'd really appreciate it.

Kindest Regards,
TechieJr.

Have you checked the DLL references on the machine that does not work. Edit a module and select tools and then references. If you see the word MISSING in front of a selected (checked) reference, this could be your problem. You will need to uncheck that item and search for another version of the missing item by scrolling down through the unbelievably long list (it is in alphabetical order below the checked items. I would love to find a book or technical paper concerning the listed references and the DLL libraries that they refer to. This stuff is very interesting and possibly useful.

Hi TommyTea,

Finally got access to the one computer giving me grief.

Double checked the DLL references on the modules and none are shown as missing. Double checked with the list on my computer and made sure the same were selected and in the same order on the other machine.

Any more ideas anyone?

References were my first guess as well. My second guess would be Service Releases. Go to Help->About and check the version number of Access to see if there are any Service Release installed.

Also, when you say it doesn't work, what is happening? If we knew the error messages you were getting, we might be able to better guess what is happening.

Hi, I've run into this problem several times particularly on some Dell machines. What I ended up doing was creating a blank db on the problem machine and importing the tables, forms, etc from the db into it. Kind of a pain, but it works for me.

Hi All,

Sorry not to have gotten back to you on this. I've begun working under the saying that if you can't get your work done working 24 hrs a day, start working nights as well.

The problem ended up being linked to the Access-generated switchboard I initially tried to use. When the forms were opened from the object listing, they began to work as designed. Created my own "Menu" form and have had no problems.

Thanks for your suggestions all.
