I have a hyperlink field on my form that opens a browser to the client's website. Unfortunately, my database gets minimized/sent to the taskbar and you have to click the icon to bring it back full screen. Anyone know how to remedy that? Ann

Hi,

You can try opening the webpage in a form. Look in Access Help for "Display a web page on a form" for complete info. Hope this helps,

Thanks for the suggestion but I really don't want to open another form. Clicking on the link opens the browser full screen as I want. I just need to figure out how to automatically return my db to full screen after I close the browser or keep the db from minimizing in the first place. Ann

Hi Ann,

I think that what you want to do is way out of my league ;) However, I did run across an article about automating IE5. Its fairly complicated, but it should be start... Hope this helps,

Interesting reading but I don't want to use the web browser control at all. I simply want to use my hyperlink. Am I being difficult?

This seems like it should be simple but I had a similar problem with the db minimizing to the task bar when I tried launching a db using a batch file.

Seems like there should be some simple code out there somewhere that tells the db to stay in full screen (maximized) even if behind the scenes. I'll be darned if I can figure it out though.

Anybody have any ideas? Ann

I hate to be a pest bring this up again but I'm hoping someone can help that might not have seen this before.

My application is sooo pretty and I'm just about ready to roll it out. But, if I can't figure this out, I'll have to change the client contact website field to plain old text (i.e., my user's will lose the ability to click on the field and go directly to the site). Ann

Hi Ann,

I think that you are trying to make Access do something that is controlled by the OS. I'm using Win 2000 at work and Win XP Pro at home - both computers do not minimize any db to the taskbar if I click on a hyperlink field in the. When I close I.E. the db is still maximized. Try checking out your task bar options. If you don't want to the link to open a browser in a form or try to control it via the link I posted above then you need to look into alternatives at Microsoft's Technet site.

HTH,

I, too, use Win2K at work and XP at home and on both systems my databases minimized when I clink on a hyperlink that opens IE. I'm not sure what task bar options you could be referring to. I don't see any that seem to apply. Ann

Hi Ann,

I thought that there might be some check box or something that controls it, sorry. I don't know why your db is minimizing (you can check Microsofts Support site to try and find an answer)... But before you do that have you tried running the db on another computer besides the ones you are working on to see if it mimics the behavior? If it doesn't minimize on that computer than I would guess that it is nothing you have to worry about. If it does minimize on that computer than you have limited the problem to your db...

I have a couple of databases with a website hyperlink field and they both do the same thing. I have the problem at home and at work. I also have an email hyperlink field that works fine (i.e., does not minimize the database). I'm totally stumped. I'll revisit MS but I couldn't find anything there on earlier visits so I'm not too hopeful. I've got a feeling that I'll have to ask my customer whether they'd like to keep the hyperlink and live with the minimized db window or if they'd prefer to do away with the hyperlink.

Thanks for being there. Ann

Ann,

I am having the same problem. There has to be an easy way to fix this. Has anyone been able to help you yet?

Karl

This doesn't give much hope of a good solution.
