First I am a complete newby.
With that said I have a couple of questions. Here goes for the first one. I am using SQL 2000. Within the Enterprise Manager I'm trying to create a DTS package to import data from a csv file into my database tables. The date format in the csv is yyyy/mm/dd. Everything that I've tried is giving me the error 'TransformDateTimeString: Must have one source column and one destination column, and each must be compatible with datetime.'
Now I know that I have one source column for each destination column, and I'm using the DateTime String transformation. I have played around with the properties under the general tab and still get the same message.
My second question is; when my csv file comes from our server SQL does not reconize any end of record marker(possibly because there isn't one) but when I import into MS Excel it imports correctly; and after I save as a csv I have no problems. What I would like to do is take Excel out of the tranformation process so that I can automate the whole thing. How does Excel know where the end of the records are but SQL does not.
