I am trying to create a formula which will take the difference between two dates and tell me how many hours and minutes that it took to complete a task. How can this be accomplished??

Try looking in the Formula Editor, in Functions, in Date/Time, in DateDiff. This might be a start. These calculations can get a bit tricky, and so are a bit beyond my expertice.
