Hi,

I am using oracle 7 on Solaris 2.5. I found that the suddenly the disk usage of the volume where the oracle datafiles are present increased by 5% and found that the cause is the increase in disk usage of the datafiles directory. The size increased about 400 MB. I don't know which file increased in size. I haven't altered any of these datafiles for the tablespace size increment. Can anybody suggest what wud be the cause of increment in the datafiles? Did any of the datafiles grow dynamically? if so is there anyway to find out whether the option to grow dynamically is set or not?

thanx in advance

Muthu,

You need to query "SYS.FILEXT$" internal view. From here you should be able to see if autoextend is set on any of your datafiles.

Muthu,

I should clearify that a little better. If you run the following query: select * From sys.FILEXT$; The maxextend column will have for the file# if autoextend is on for the file.
