I am looking into replicating my company's Ms Access database. The database is set in a "front-end"/"back-end" method and I want to replicate (mirror) the "back-end". Essentially, for precautionary measures in securing the data

Can anyone shine any light on replication?

Please note: that i want to use it more as a backup method, than a simple copy of the database. That i would have to, periodically, having to delete and copy.

Replication would probably achieve the backup process for you.

My preference would be to use script and Windows scheduler or similar tool to achieve the same -- I feel it would much easier and less administration than replication.

I have some experience with replication and it can be a high maintenance proposition. I would use it for backup purposes only if loss of a short period of new data (you determine the length) is a big enough problem. Otherwise, Wantabie's suggestion is far more reliable and trouble-free.

Besides, if you have any auto-number fields, they will be converted to random numbering instead of sequential and can really mess up record sorting if you hadn't planned on it.
