Database is trying to open in edit mode

We have a database on our network that just started giving an error on open, if someone already has it open. The error is the one about 'you can't open in exclusive mode....' The error message appears 30 times; maybe the number of objects it needs to load????? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

One thing to check on all installations: open Access, click on Tools | Options | Advanced and make sure that "Shared" is checked as the default open mode.

I found the answer. It was Adobe 7.0. Adobe Acrobat 7.0 replaces the default menu bar with a replica that has an Adobe menu item. You need to remove the microsoft office tools from the installation and it works.

Thanks for the heads-up! Just installed Acro7 on my laptop, but haven't had any issues with office apps yet since it's only a single user environment.
