Database engine stops during DB pruning

I've got a bit of a problem with ArcServe 9.0 - each night the backup is scheduled to run, and goes through without problem, but each time it gets to the DB pruning, the database engine is stopped.

To see if I could find out any more information, I changed the schedule so that the DB pruning would execute while I was observing. It started Ok, then the database engine stopped, though no error was given. I started it again, and then recieved a message that "DB pruning was successful". But no clue as to why the DB engine stopped..

As far as I know there have been no changes to the system setup or settings on ArcServe (and I'm pretty sure of this since I'm the only who maintains the system).

I can't find any information regarding a fix for this, if anyone could help it would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Here are a few things that might help track it down.

Put the Job and Database Engines into debug faq478-4182.

Check the Dr. Waston log and in the ARCserve\log directory for exception logs resulting from a gpf.

Run dbcheck to verify the database integrity. See the dbutil readme in the ARCserve directory and faq478-4386.

Cheers for the suggestions. I'll put these into action and see if I can find how to proceed.

Thanks again.
