an anyone please point out the settings that need to be carried to transfer data from one laptop to another using crossover cable. One laptop uses Win XP & the other uses Win Vista Home premium.

Just need to make sure the 2 pc's are in the same subnet, that they have the same workgroup name, they share the same usernames and passwords settings in computer management on both, that you have file and printer sharing service loaded under network properties. Also, either turn firewall off or make sure file and printer sharing are allowed under the firewall. You can then either type in the unc path with the IPC share, so \\computername\c$ or you can create a share for the drive or folder on the pc your trying to access and hit it with \\computername\sharename
