Data transfer as a batch job from sql server 7.0 To Oracle 8i database

I need the best way to transfer data from SQL server 7.0 to Oracle8i database. i am using SQL linked server but i want to try DTS of SQL 7.0. In what way it is differnt than linked server. will it improve performance?
can i get some really good document on DTS giving examples of data transfer to Oracle

With DTS, you can transfer from SQL Server to Oracle directly, using native OLE DB providers. You can do bulk copy operations which should be much faster than queries on linked servers.

DTS packages are very simple to create using the Import/Export Wizard. You may be able to find examples on the web but because the process of building packages is simple, you may not need any samples. Of course, DTS can do some very complex transformations. You may want to get a book or do some searching on the web. I recommend the book, "Professional SQL Server 2000 DTS" by Mark Chaffin, Brian Knight, and Todd Robinson. Terry Broadbent
