More of a curious question.

If you're creating formulas for example, sometimes you have a choice of selecting existing report fields or going back to the table to get the data.

When you have this choice, What would be the best programming practice to use?

I've always assumed it was exactly the same thing. That the software was helpfully showing you all of the database fields you were already using.
