Data between two forms

I have a database where a unique serial no binds two related form using the default value = [Forms]![Main_frm]![Serial No], a button on click event opens a form related to a chosen incident type.

When you reopen the for through the main form the information is not viewed, just the serial no and no info related to it so you cannot amend the details once entered can any help.

Have you tried the Requery method of the Form object ?
