Damage File IDX 1

Respected Gentlemen,

I already tried everything that was possible and I don't get to discover because some files are being almost everyday rotten.
Any information or suggestion on the subject will be very well coming.
If somebody passed for this reason in another situation and it found something that deserves be said, please, speak.

Scenery: In a same net we have:

Server Novell 4.11
Windows 2000 for
Programs INT mf-Cobol 3.2.50
Programs INT Netexpress 2.0 without sp used in Windows XP
Programs INT NetExpress 3+sp
Programs EXE/DLL - NetExpress 2.0
Files MF format 3

Anti-vírus Norton

Problem.
Loss of the file IDX
Registrations with "dirts"
File Status 41 - intermittent

Question
1 - can the anti-virus damage an IDX Cobol?
2 - Cabling level-5 with problem it can damage a file Cobol?
3 - can electric power picks damage a file Cobol?
4 - a program Cobol EXE/DLL generated in Netx 2 it can damage a file Cobol, and during the animator everything does seem normal?
5 - done to access the same file using OPEN INPUT for programs compile in different versions it can damage a file Cobol?
6 - to use a Rebuild of NetX 3 and can to use a Rebuild using MF Cobol 3.2.20 damage a file later Cobol?
7 - can a virus damage a file Cobol?

8 - in the past I had problems with programs EXE compiled by NetX 3/Win98 in a pc with cpu Duron. Is there some report on this problem type?

9 - I altered the autoexec.nt and it includes SET=COBSW -F (Windows 2000)
However, when I open the prompt of NetX 2.0 I need to type SET=COBSW -F. Why?

Marcos,

I have no expertise regarding Micro Focus, but I do know that Novell has some problems in its record locking protocols that might cause this type of problem.

To explore this further go to the Micro Focus Knowledge Base here and search for 7760, which is an article that describes a solution to a Novell/Visual COBOL problem with Windows 2000 workstations.

Tom's post actually contains two links, one associated with "Knowledge Base" and a second with the word "here". The first points to a web page for a software package called "Mouse Tracks", which I would guess to be an unintentional mistake. The 2nd link ("here") points to the MicroFocus knowledge base search page which I believe is the link Tom really wanted you to pursue.

Actually, no it doesn't. Check the source of the page before any browser add-ins touch it. Only the word here has a link transmitted from Tek-Tips.
