We had a incident in our call centre last week.... A agent claimed to of recieved a electric shock from her phone/headset.

Now I've read the books, tested the voltage and current to the phone and there is nothing of any consequence there.

Has anyone ever heard of this?

We've kicked this back to our facilities people to get them to check the desks for earth bonding and to check the humidifiers, as we've been getting bad static.

My feeling is that it's static....

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

static, you can take a shower with a digital set without getting bit.. an analog set can give you a tingle, if you make contact with a ringer lead when ringing...

I was a lineman years ago and did the no-no of stripping wire up the pole with my teeth; the phone rang!!

muttsnuts, not as stupid as:

Calling an operator to verify an extension on an analog set.

Go to punch down the cross-connect, with the wire in your mouth and she calls you back to ask another question.

that's smart......

Had this experience with static many times in a carpeted environment which typically gets worse in the winter when artificially heated air is dry.

If it's a small place (relatively), have carpets cleaned with fabric softener, or, if the cleaning place offers..antistatic treatment....fabric softener with a fancy name.

If it's a large place, do the same treatment from station to 50 - 75 ft away in all carpeted directions. If it's tile and still getting static....move.
