CVS (Concurrent Versions System) How to set up on Linux

Hi there,

I'm rather new to linux. At the moment I'm picking it up to be able to set up a CVS server.

I've already set up my Linux machine to be able to access the internet and also act as a server. However
this wouldn't be much of a problem if the machine is not connected to the internet as CVS service uses
port 2041 and I'm more concern of having it up and running in my LAN.

I've noticed that the CVS service is included in the Linux package for Redhat. Would it be advisable
to use the package provided for my CVS service or to download the one from cvshome.org?

My next question would be how to set up the CVS server to run as to make clients/workstation (with its
CVSclient e.g. winCVS) access the CVS services provided by Linux server?

Would I have install the CVS package from
cd /mnt/cdrom/Redhat/RPMS

or just use the one available within the directory -
usr/lib/cvs/contrib/
(this directory consist of files such as - cvs_acls, cvscheck, cvs2vendor, mfpipe, etc etc)
