After lots of time and work we got our 9630 phone from SIP to H323. Here is the procedure I used in case someone needs more instruction then 3 grunt words. The last post in the tek-tips forum was the most helpful.
1. On the windows workstation that our Avaya manager is on I installed a web server using IIS. Create a simple webpage and tested it. I found all the instructions on how to create a server on
youtube (create windows IIS web server) Don't be ashamed to go look this is something that you don't do everyday!
2. Go to Avaya website and download the last install for the phones you want to configure – In my case I have 9630’s They stopped supporting this phone in 2009 so the last config file I could find
was 2006
is the location for the 9620 and 9630 files.
3. Copy and unzip the install files to the
directory of the web server. C:\Inetpub\
4. Now go to the phone press mute and spell out the word CRAFT #(27238#) enter the configuration menu
5. Find the ADDR and press OK >> Scroll to the HTTP server address and put in the address of the server you unzipped your install files in. In my case it is 10.20.X.X
6. Click the save button to go out one menu level. Then scroll down and fine the SIG menu entry.
7. In the SIG menu change setting from default to H.323 save, exit that menu and restart.
8. In my case the Phones picked up the new settings and changed from SIP to H.323 and are now working on my Avaya System. The update took 12 Minutes to do.
Thanks for everyones help!
