Hello all,

I am currently employed at a company that is starting to implement Business Objects. I am fairly new at using B.O. (Designer especially), and I would like to know if there is any way to hold end-users to use a custom template that we would build instead of allowing them to use the Query Panel. If anybody knows of such a solution please advise.

Much appreciated,

Rich Mercier

Rich,

Why would you need to customize the Query Panel????

Sri,

It's not that we want to customize the Query Panel, but what we want/hope to do (if possible) is create a custom template which the end user must use to run a report instead of using the Query Panel. I've been researching this with no luck, so hopefully you or somebody can help me!

Thanks in advance,

Rich Mercier

I still don't get it. End users don't need to use the query panel. If you give them a report, they can just hit the refresh button.

If you are trying to build some sort of form that then passes paramters to BO, thats possible using VBA or ASP/JSP.

Sorry I'm so confusing...like I said I'm very new with using B.O. so please bare with me :)

The thing is we won't be giving them a report (we use Report Retriever for that), they will be creating their own report which is the reason why the user will need to use the Query Panel. I believe the reason we want them to use a custom template is so that the user doesn't send outrageous queries to our DB, and just to make it easier. Is using VBA or ASP/JSP the only way to go about this? Or is there some way to do it in B.O.?

Again, sorry I've been so confusing and I appreciate everybodies help! :)

There's a new one here everytime I post,

With SDK license you can find (and customize) an "html query panel" (no applet, but drop down lists of objects ...),which can be easily restricted.
