I'm trying to create a custom shape that emulates the double-click behavior of the built-in shapes: double-click and a text box opens for editing.

If I draw a shape and group it with a textbox, I have to click through the grouping to the sub-shapes to get to the text box. How do I get a double-click event to simply open the textbox?

I've noticed that if I take a built-in shape and ungroup it (severing it's connection to it's master), then re-group it it no longer has the correct behavior either so I think it has something to to with creating a master in a stencil but I can't seem to find any info on this.

OK. So I've now determined that any shape that's been saved in a stencil now has a 'master'. I've created a shape with no embedded text box created a master from it. If I drag it from the stencil and drop it on a page, a double-click opens a text box centered on the shape. I guess all I need to learn now is how to change the position of the auto-generated text box.

Anyone know how to do this?

(I'm somewhat amazed at how little info I've found searching.)

Select the shape ( or edit the master) and select Behaviour from the Format menu. Click on the Double-Click tab of the dialog box that appears. In your case, the third option, Edit Shape's Text should be selected.

The actual positioning of the text block can be controlled by the Text Block tool or Text from the Format menu. The Text Block tool is in the drop down from the Text tool ( the symbol A on the tool bar). There is a down arrow to the right. The Text Block tool is an A encircled by an Arrow.
