cursor problem on windows xp

Hi,
Whenever or whatever i am clicking my cursor in to start writing it is coming up a thick black box istead of a thin black line.Hoping someone can help me change back to a thin line?

Control Panel, Accessibility Options, Display.
There you can set the cursor blink rate, and cursor width.

Control Panel, Mouse
Very often these same settings feature is available under the Mouse applet if you have one.

(Make sure what you are seeing is not the result of pushing down on the scroll wheel).
