Hi all
I'm uploading a CSV file.
So I seperate the rows on commas.. which is ok until someone enters a comma in the middle of a row (its text so its valid).

I heard rumour (but can't find the thread again) that Excel uses a slightly different Char as its delimiter (thats why Excel seperates the columns correctly)..
Any Ideas?

Thanks :)

No. Excel also imports in the same way. Either you can import to a single column and do data manipulation or
you can fix the source by sending any text column with double quotes "" like the below example

Example:

"Name","company","salary","allowance"
"claire hsu"," merrill lynch,Inc",1000,100
"Manga","dotcom.com,Inc",1000,100
"Madayan","Forge Inc",1000,100

Thanks for your reply Claire.
I realised after I hit the submit post button that I should have posted to the ASP forum instead as I want to use regular expressions to search for "text, text", text, "text, text" which is the ouput of the CSV file when read in using ASP.. off to search some more
:)
