CSU/DSU card question

I need to use the csu/dsu card as another ethernet connection. I dont' have a t1 so i just need to use the card as my external internet connection to my isp through a ethernet connection. Can i DISABLE the feature of the card that converts digital data frames from the communications technology used by local area networks into frames appropriate to a wide-area network?
