CS1000E Installation - 1G CF

I'm installing a CS1000E system. It is supposed to have two call servers (CP PM). On inspection of the equipment I realized that I got two CP PM cards. However, I received one kit that contains three (3) Compact Flash cards - 128M, 512M and 1G. I know the 1G is the installed as the hard drive for the CP PM card. Shouldn't I have received two 1G cards?

The should all be tagged, are they not? I wouldn't think you would recieve two, no. you move to the other drive or write over.

The 1GB is for the fixed disk (goes on the card).
The 256MB is the backup (goes in the faceplate)
The 512MB is the installation media that actually has the software and keycodes on it.

Matthew is pretty much right on.

1gb is called you FMD - Fixed Media Device - goes on the CPPM card that will be your Call Server. CPPM cards can also be Sig Servers. Did you get a small regular hardrive? If so its for your other CPPM card that will be your Sig Server. Check your switch setting on the card.

Last about the CPPM card...You can have a dual core system on a CS1000E if this is a HA (high availability) then you must have 2 1GB flash cards, one for each CPPM processor.

512 is called RMD - Removalble Media Device. Should have lable with 5.5 or 6.0 labled on it. Keycode comes on it from Nortel.You probably only get one of these.

The 128 stays in the faceplate after software has been loaded for backups.

Just as Jswin said just remember that the Sig Server CPPM needs the harddrive and no onboard CF. The CPPM processor requires the 1G on board with no harddrive. Watch you dip switch, it appears that it is sealed and shouldnt be changed. Just break the little blob of and change it, I believe its the SS that needs to be changed..

I agree with all you're saying and I understand what each of the CFs are for.

The system is HA, therefore I figure one of the 1G CF was not shipped.

Wasn't sure if it was a HA or not from the original post. Your right, looks like your missing a 1GB CF.
