Hi Everyone,

I have an unusual problem. I have Crystal Reports 8.5 installed on my system, but I cannot locate the crystl32.ocx ActiveX control on my system. I double checked and installed the complete application for Crystal and I am sure I did the same for VB. This is not helpful because I need to select this under the components menu. Can anyone tell me what I can do to solve this?

Thanks in advance,

Rob [Vader2]

This assumes you have VB 6 ...

1. Go to the VB6 Menu item Project, Components...
2. Click on the Designers tab
3. Click on the Checkbox next to Crystal Reports 8.5 to select it.
4. Click Ok button

You should now be able to add a Crytal Report through the menu, Project, Add Crystal Reports 8.5 ...

The widard will help you add a form with a viewer, etc..

Hi again,

I followed your suggestion, and I do not have Crystal Reports available to choose under the Designers tab. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,

Mark,

I just found it. I wasn't sure I had to install Crystal Reports from the Visual Studio disks, which I just did, and now I have the crystl32.ocx file. I am using VB 6 Enterprise and Crystal 8.5 Professional. Do you know of a good tutorial where I can see how to program viewing reports and sending parameters to crystal for reports?

Thanks,

Rob [Vader2]

The Developer and Advanced Editions of CR 8.5 have the report designer component whereas you can develop reports from within the VB IDE.

Hello will u pls write in detail how u solved the prob. I also have the same prob. Crystl32.ocx is not found in my PC but i have installed crystal reports 8 and VB 6

Jaynair,

It depends which version of Visual Studio you have. You have to install Crystal Reports 4.5 to use the crystl32.ocx ActiveX component. This version of Crystal Reports comes with Visual Studio 6. If you have Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise like me, it is located on the third installation disk and is located in the following directory: \COMMON\TOOLS\VB\CRYSREPT. If you have Visual Studio Professional, I think it is located on the second installation disk in the same directory. If you have only VB I sugguest looking at this article on msdn -
I hope this helps.
