Does anyone know how to stop the automatic placement of both print date (in page header) and page number (in page footer) when a new report is created? I've seen this when I select 'new' and 'standard report', pick a database table(s) but do not select any fields with the wizard - when I click 'finish' it takes me to the preview tab with these two fields automatically placed.

I can't find anything in the options or report options to stop doing this. Luckily this does not happen when 'new/blank report' is selected but I'm curious if there is a way to turn this off for standard.

Dear Mary,

It has been that way for eons. It does the same thing when you Insert a Subreport and choose New Report which brings up the report wizard with a different name :)

It's just Crystal thinking they are being helpful. As far as I know, there is no way to turn it off.

regards,

ro

I'd never even noticed that before. Probably because I never use the Wizard to create a report.

Dear Virdu,

Neither do I ... but I briefly cover the report wizard for students in my Crystal Classes and again it is in the New Subreport option which is also covered ... it is even less useful after 8.5 because they gutted it (you can no longer create formulas within the tool or change column headers).

All,

I too have that problem, but unlike Mary i've only noticed this in version XI. I've not used V10 so i can't comment on that version but the automatic placement of the print date did not feature in any version from v5 to v9 when selecting New - As a Blank Report.

Its annoying but there doesn't seem to be an option to turn it off.
