I have a crystal report that I need to make as an odbc datasource so a 3rd party can connect to it and access the data it returns. I am not aware of a way to do this and wanted to know if it is possible?

The data would be dynamic and not stored in the report, i am assuming when someone connects to it via odbc it would auto refresh.

CR 8.5

Regards.

Hi,
A Crystal Report is NOT a datasource, it uses a datasource to produce output..That output can be exported so some other application can use the data it returned, but it most cases, if the other app can connect to the original data source it can get the data that way.

You can, through various means, make a Crystal Report available to others ( 3rd party viewers, Crystal Enterprise, etc).

Their is a utility for advanced users called Convert Database Driver?

It appears like it makes dll files for connecting via odbc.

any experience with this?

If you are referring to the option in Crystal, it simply allows you to change the database connection driver used by the report.
