I have a couple of computers that have the activex viewer installed to view reports. When started up thru an application written in clarion it starts up then flahes right off the screen and quits. I have uninstalled/reinstalled. Double checked the permissions in the registry but this happens to admins to regular users so I dont believe this is a permissions or user issue. I have removed all microsoft updates and then reinstalled them. reinstalled the .net framework for ver 1, 2 & 3. Its not a firewall issue. Many other things I have tried and have not been able to fix this issue. Any suggestions would be great!

This is on 2 xp pro worstations and the viewer is for Crystal Report XI.

Let me ask you something. Does a caption box appear when you tell it to print? Did you register the crystl32.ocx
regsvr32.exe c:\yourlib\crystl32.ocx this should produce a report I use Clarion also. I use Version 8.0 crystal viewer
hope this helps.

A caption box does not appear. And I dont believe that this file is in version 11. I dont have it on mine and I looked at a few others the run the viewer just fine and they dont have that file either.

Could be a browser issue as well.

Try uninstalling the viewer and reinstalling it.

Yes I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Have even manually unregistered some dll's and the ocx and then manually re-registered them.

Hi,
Do the users have pop-ups blocked in their browser settings? ( depending on which browser, it could also be in a add-on toolbar like Google's..) If so, that is exactly the behavior that would happen.

I will look into the pop up issue. My question would be since this is not a browser or internet issue would the internet settings still play a factor as far as popups being blocked in the browser settings. I disabled all the activex settings in my internet options to see if it would cause my workstaion to give the same result, but it seemed no matter what I changed in my browser settings it had no effect on the crystal viewer. But i will try the pop up idea.

The pop-up blocker theory didnt pan out it still does flashes off the screen even when disabled in the browser settings(internet options)

Hi,
Did you also check for additional add-on toolbars..Google and Yahoo are notorious for installing somewhat quietly as part of some other installations ( like Adobe reader, if you are not careful)...

These add-on toolbar extensions almost always have a pop-up blocker...
