We have played around with it on a DEV box, but we can't move CR-2008 into PRODUCTION until we upgrade our BOE-XI environments to RELEASE 3.1 later this year.
It is really important that you look at the "method of delivery" for your RPTs before you upgrage to CR-2008, as the updated RPTs may not be supported under older delivery methods.

I have both XI and 2008 running on my machine. I upgraded for the enhanced cross-tab features, but I actually like XI better. Addtionally, there is a nasty bug with 2008 that can be noticed when trying to add drawing objects such as lines or boxes on reports with a landscape page orientation. If XI works for you, I'd stick with it.
