Hi,

I have an app that uses CR 8.5 for the reports and SQL Server 2000 for the DB. When I log in to my VB app, I have to specify which server and database I want to log on to because when I am writing the program I use the SQL Server on my machine, but when it is at the client, it uses their SQL Server.

When I built my CR reports, I used the SQL Server on my machine. However when I put this app out, it will have to use the clients SQL server.

How do I get my CR Report database to point to the SQL Server and database specified by the user when logging in to the client app?

Thanks in advance,
Peter

Peter,
Here is what I do. When developing your Crystal reports, use an ODBC connection of a specific name to link to the database on your machine. Then when the application is at the client location, use the login information for the application data to generate an ODBC connection of the same name to that database. Works pretty good for me.
