I have a line chart that has values ranging from 10 to 1,000,000. I need to use the log scaling option to display my series properly. Everytime I try to select the logarithmic scale and close the chart editor, the scale returns to linear.

I have tried everything I could think of. I've tried manual scaling. I even used 8.5 to select the scale and then saved it in 7.0 format. This creates curved lines on my chart and I need straight lines connecting one point to another in a series.

Any suggestions? I'd prefer to stay with version 7 for now if I can get this to work.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Are you using the Custom Chart Editor?
If so, what are your keystrokes after you make the change?
Does it look correct while you are in the CC editor? Ken Hamady, On-site Custom Crystal Reports Training & Consulting

Hello Ken,

Yes, I am using the Custom Chart Editor and it does look correct while I am in the CC Editor. Once I exit the editor the chart returns to a linear scale.

If I edit this chart using 8.5's CC Editor, it holds the log scale but once I save it in 7.0 and call it up using 7.0 the log scale appears, but the lines between points become curved rather than straight.

I hope this can help you to help me. :)

There is a design flaw in the CCE when it comes to exiting, and it is easy to not do it correctly. This may be your problem, or you may be encountering a very specific bug.

To get around the design flaw, make the change in the CCE again, and then immediately click "File - Exit" in the CCE window. Then when you ge the "Save Changes" dialogue click "YES". This is a different "SAVE" than the "File - Save As" which is in the CCE menu. If this doesn't make a difference, then V7 has a specific bug in the feature you want to use.
