We currently run Crystal Version 7 with SQL designer. We have created numerous reports in the SQL designer.

We have made the business decision to upgrade to Crystal 11.

How can I move those reports built in Version 7 SQL designer to run on Crystal 11?

Bob,

You are not being specific when you mention SQL designer.

Are your reports based on dictionaries?

We moved from Crystal 8.5 to Crystal 10, and transferred SQL as follows:

Choose Database > Database Expert

Click on the database, as if adding a new table

Instead, choose [Add Command]

Using cut-and-paste, move in the SQL code. (Be prepared for a long wait.)

You'll also find that the SQL output can be linked directly to database tables, rather than via subreports as was the case in 8.5.

There is no longer such a thing as an "SQL Designer", which I used with 8.5. Or it has been incorporated, at least that's what it looks like when using the new function.

Bob,

Good news then - there is a relatively painless way of moving to XI - there is a Migration Wizard that will let you transfer your reports and dictionaries (which will be converted to Business Views) to XI.

You may have a couple of reports that may need redevelopment but the majority should migrate over without a problem.
